Accessibility

What we have built for, what we have tested, and what we know is still outstanding.

The target

We are building to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. That is a target, not a certificate — we have not commissioned an external audit, so this page describes work done rather than a conformance claim.

What is in place

  • Keyboard. Every control on the site is reachable and operable with a keyboard, including the size pickers, the quick-add tray, the mobile menu and the bag controls. Focus outlines are deliberately loud rather than tasteful.
  • Semantics. Product cards use a single stretched link rather than nesting buttons inside an anchor, so the accessibility tree matches what you see. Headings run in order on every page.
  • Announcements. Adding to the bag, saving an item and copying a link all update a polite live region, so the change is announced rather than silent.
  • Target size. Interactive controls are at least 44 × 44 px, and form fields are at least 16 px so iOS does not zoom when you focus them.
  • Motion. Animation is limited to short transitions and one scroll-linked reveal. Everything respects prefers-reduced-motion, and no information is conveyed by motion alone.
  • Zoom and reflow. Layouts are fluid down to 320 px and hold at 200% zoom without horizontal scrolling. Wide tables scroll inside their own container rather than pushing the page sideways.
  • Without JavaScript. Search and category filtering use plain links and a GET form, so browsing and reading work with scripting disabled. Only the bag and saved items require JavaScript.

Known gaps

  • No formal screen-reader test pass with NVDA, JAWS or VoiceOver has been recorded.
  • Forced-colours (Windows high contrast) mode has not been verified.
  • Imagery is generated concept work; alt text describes the scene, but no garment photograph exists yet to describe accurately.
  • No accessibility statement has been reviewed by an external auditor.

In the studio

The Indiranagar studio is on the second floor and is currently reached by stairs. That is a real barrier and we are not going to describe it as anything else. If stairs are a problem, call ahead on +91-8383898958 — we will bring pieces, sizes and swatches down to you, or arrange to meet at ground level.

Tell us what breaks

If something here does not work with your assistive technology, that is a defect and we want to hear about it. Write to hello@verdantloom.com, or use the contact page. Tell us the page, the device and what you expected to happen.
