Wear the change, softly.

Publication status

This page describes the studio’s proposed operating principles. Statements about sourcing, supplier visits, audits and production practice are stated intent, not verified records — no certificate, audit report or supplier list has been published behind them yet. Treat them as what we hold ourselves to, and ask us for evidence on anything that matters to your decision.

Why we started

Verdant Loom began in 2021 from a simple observation: sustainable clothing in India was either premium-priced and aspirational, or cheap and unconvincing. There was very little in between — clothing that a regular person with a regular budget could wear every day without feeling like they were making a sacrifice.

We started from Indiranagar because we knew this neighbourhood. We understood the rhythm of its streets — the Monday commute, the Tuesday meeting, the Sunday market. We wanted clothing that matched that rhythm without demanding the earth from the people who wore it or from the earth itself.

"Sustainable fashion should feel like a better choice, not a lesser one."

What we make

We make everyday clothing — shirts, trousers, kurtas, jackets, dresses, and lounge sets — for people who live primarily in Indian cities and want clothing that works across the many different contexts a city day requires.

We are deliberate about what we make. We do not launch new styles every season to create artificial novelty. Each style is designed to remain relevant across seasons, to work with a wide range of other pieces, and to improve with washing rather than degrading.

We describe our products accurately. When we say organic cotton, we mean GOTS-certified organic cotton with a traceable supply chain. When we say bamboo viscose, we specify the processing method and its tradeoffs. We do not use language designed to make things sound better than they are.

How we make it

All Verdant Loom garments are designed in Bangalore and produced with manufacturing partners in India. We work with a small number of manufacturing partners — enough to maintain relationships we can verify and improve, not so many that oversight becomes impossible.

We visit our manufacturing partners. We audit conditions. We pay on time. We do not place last-minute orders that create overtime pressure. These aren't exceptional — they're baseline. But they're worth stating because they're not universal in this industry.

Our construction standards are repairable-first: seams are designed to allow repair, buttons are attached with extra thread, linings are accessible without destructive deconstruction. Every garment we make can be brought to our studio for professional repair.

The studio

Our Indiranagar flagship store is not just a retail space. It is where we hold workshops on capsule wardrobe building and garment care. It is where we run our repair service. It is where our take-back programme operates. It is where you can feel fabric, try clothes in real light, and talk to people who know every piece we sell.

We are open 7 days a week. Walk in whenever you like. Private styling sessions are available for those who want focused time with our team.
